this is not about writing
When I was in college I struggled to identify with my path of becoming an author. I was an English major after all, so it was either write books, go to law school, or waste a degree. But I didn’t enjoy writing. Writing is a grueling process, fringe with rules only to be broken by the already successful. It was confining and elusive, so I more often than not said I was going to be a storyteller.
Between the snickers, gripes, and my own embarrassment, I learned to keep that title to myself, but there was some truth in that admission.
Even if I am making music, shooting films, or starting conversations, I lean on driving narrative in a way that supersedes the act of writing.
So in order to honor that storyteller in me, I’ve crafted an ongoing blog to highlight story in all its forms, whether the fleeting essays of a moment or the screenplays yet to be produced. An ode to the original.
